Deconstructing di Suvero (Solo Exhibit at A.P.R. Munich, GERMANY)
March 9 – March 26, 2016
Working digitally for her professional assignments, Dietzel's artistic practice is one firmly rooted in the analog, reliant on a vintage, medium-format Hasselblad camera and the physical manipulation of the film it produces. For Deconstructing di Suvero, a photo series based on Mark di Suvero's large scale sculptures, Dietzel uses double exposures to reveal a multitude of perspectives of the same object. Using what might be considered a cubist approach to photography, Dietzel teases out a new, unexpected dimensionality from di Suvero's bold, exuberant sculptures. For Dietzel, working with an old, analog Hasselblad allows for the deceleration of time, making room for a meditative process by which a deeper relationship between the photographer and her subject can be cultivated. This slow, sustained engagement offers a refreshing counterpoint to the deluge of harried, digital snapshots with which we are inundated daily, a poignant reminder that if we don’t take the time to slow down, we may just miss the magic.

Learning to See Color (Group Exhibit at Vicki Myhren Gallery, University of Denver)
January 14 – March 6, 2016
This exhibition explores the underpinnings of color, with a particular emphasis on the shifting and elusive quality of the concept, in order to help the viewer see color in a richer and more complex way. Curator Jeffrey Keith: "Eliminating color altogether is a sure-fire way to solve the color problem. Nina Dietzel’s Mother Peace III – the title comes from the sculpture – is an interesting example of achromatism. Dietzel has subverted our expectations by showing us a black and white image of a sculpture by Mark di Suvero, whose signature color is red. Di Suvero’s work is widely known. Although Dietzel has abstracted the image, there is a good chance that the viewer will be familiar with the subject, which is part of Dietzel's strategy to create interest through misdirection.

"Be/Longing" (Summer Photography Show at Fouladi Projects)
July 8 – August 30, 2014
Featuring new work by Nina Dietzel, Darija Jelincic and Anne Veraldi Fouladi projects is pleased to present an exhibition of new works by three women photographers. The works in the show vary in content, but all investigate the human issues of isolation, containment and longing. Inherent in our existence is the need to balance the conundrum between being an individual, physically separate, yet also requiring a vital connection to others to thrive. Nina Dietzel's "Paris Series" diptychs juxtapose images which cleverly reveal the universal tension between masculine and the feminine archetypes. Darija Jelencic's works on view are from her "Escapes" series, beautifully capturing vignettes of human culture clustered together against the the great expanse of the sea and the sky. Anne Veraldi's photographs are a selection from her “Outside-In Series", which depict both found and remnant artifacts encapsulated within the iconic mason jar, as a way of preserving wistful memories from the past.
